Reference: 1 Timothy 6:9. But those who want to be rich (by all means)

Text: 2 Kings 5
Desperation is the feeling of been desperate
about something, having a strong, unquenchable desire to have something by all
means.
There are so many things that human craves to
have desperately, material possessions, power and authority. Remember, whatever
you crave for endlessly either by hook or by crook, end–up taken something valuable
to you.
In today’s episode of lesson, we’ll be looking
at an example, Gehazi’s desperation to be rich.
Gehazi is a servant of prophet Elisha, who
want to be rich desperately, who was not content with what he has. 1 Tim. 6:8 If we have food and
clothing,[e] we will be content with these.
In these bible story today Naaman had leprosy
who came to Prophet Elisha for cleansing, after which he came offering a gift to
show appreciation but have the leading not to accept the gifts.
“Blessed is he who’s leading is not determined by the happenings around him but by the Lord” – Sunnpraiz.
1 Tim. 5:10 warns;
For the love of money is a root[f] of all kinds of evil, and by
craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves
with many griefs. Money itself is not bad but when its place as your top
most priority it what is bad which explains “for the love of money is a root of
all kinds of evil”
Here comes the
desperation of Gehazi and the result thereafter; 2 Kings 5:20 Gehazi,
the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself, “My master was too easy
on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely
as the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.”
The flesh desires pleasure which is against the spirit of God, Gehazi was moved
by the fleshy desire and thereby lost his place and inherit the leprosy of Naaman.
1 Tim. 5: 9 But those who want to be rich fall
into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge
people into ruin and destruction.
The tragedy of the result of desperation does not end with the perpetrators only but passed unto generations that know nothing about how it all started. See verse 27. Naaman’s leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever.” Then Gehazi went from Elisha’s presence and his skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow.
