The Lord's Table (Communion) by Sunnypraizofficial

THE LORD’S TABLE (COMMUNION) A.K.A THE PASSOVER.

The lord’s table (Communion) can be seen as the act of celebrating the lord’s super; the participation of the blessed sacrament, the time when Christians comes together to eat and wine together as remembrance of the ultimate price Jesus paid on the cross of Calvary.

Luke 22:14-20 spells out the account of the lord’s supper. When the time of his (Jesus Christ) death was near, he sat down with his disciple and he said, “with great longing I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God”. Luke 22:15-16. I like how Matthew 26:26-29 put it; He went thus: -

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it and gave it to the disciples and said “Take, eat. This is my body”.

He also took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “drink from it, all of you. For this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins…”

He further instructs in 1 Corinthians 11:26 “for as often as you eat this bread and drink tis cup, you proclaim the lord’s death till he comes.

And as you eat it remember me” (3x)

He went for me, he went for me

On the way to calvary, he went for me

He die to set me free”.

“I know it was the blood

I know it was the blood

I know it was the blood for me”

CONDITIONS FOR PARTAKING IN THE LORD’S TABLE.

·         The condition to consider while partaking of the Lord’s table “self – examination” “…a man should examine himself, and then eat of that bread, and drink of that cup”. 1 Corinthians 11:28.

“Self – examination” cut across all human life, your devotion to God and men, your personal relationship with God, your lifestyle in the secret and in the open, your character and attitude towards God and man.

  • ·         Guilt
  • ·         Judgement
  • ·         It brought about sickness and weakness

RECOMMENDATIONS

Even though, the lord’s table is a place of eating and wining together, it is not that kind to eat and be heavy physically therefore it is advised you eat from home before coming for the lord’s table (communion). 1 Corinthians 11:34.

CONCLUSION.

It is always a pleasure to eat and wine together and so proclaiming the lord’s death but mind you, do not eat “unworthily” so as to avoid the wrath of God. As much as it lies with you eat as much as you can in line with the guidelines and lay down principle our lord Jesus has lay down for us to follow.
